Like all Freeplay products, the defining feature of the Companion is that it can be hand-cranked for power. ... The Companion itself is a tad bulky, but takes up less space than a flashlight, radio and cell phone charger would. It's only 7oz....The Freeplay Companion has been my constant companion for some time now. ... This unit is a rugged radio/flashlight combo that can even charge my cell phone in a pinch....The Companion comes with a Nokia-style charging cable that serves several different phones, but I've found that Radio Shack sells other cables and connectors that w ork with it. ... You can get yours direct from Freeplay's website for $32, but I've seen it at REI and elsewhere for under $30....
